For over half a century, Grumman Corporation was, directly or indirectly, a positive influence on employees, their families, communities, schools, subcontractors/suppliers, and charitable organizations on Long Island and all over the country. The Grumman Walk of Honor at Grumman Memorial Park, Calverton, New York, is the best place to permanently commemorate this company’s impact on you, a friend, a family member, a community business, or a member of the Armed Forces, past and present.
Everyone Contributed, No One Should Be Left Out
Through your purchase of a beautifully engraved commemorative marble brick, you can reserve a place on the Grumman Walk of Honor that recognizes the contribution each individual has made to creating products that served in national defense and pushed aerospace technology to the moon and back. Whether it was engineering, research, manufacturing, or administrative services, all employees played a part, from the earliest days to the present.
The U.S. Navy has provided an F-14A Tomcat fighter to the Town of Riverhead, New York. This aircraft was manufactured at the Calverton facility by the former Grumman Corporation, now Northrop Grumman Corporation. This Tomcat was the 331st F-14A produced by the company, making its first flight on July 6, 1979. It was delivered to the U.S. Navy on September 27, 1979 to Fighter Squadron VF-101 of Oceana, Virginia. This F-14A will be the “cornerstone” display of Grumman Memorial Park.Creating a Memorial Park that Future Generations Will Treasure
Purchasing a Grumman Walk of Honor Commemorative Brick is an excellent way to show your colleagues, co-workers, Mom or Dad, Aunt or Uncle, or Godparents that their years of effort will not be forgotten. Incredible advances in aviation history and technology took place thanks to the teamwork and dedication of the Grumman employees and the support of their families, friends, and suppliers. Be sure that as you stroll around beneath the Grumman F-14A Tomcat poised with wings swept back, pointing towards the clear blue sky, you walk away with pride that your contribution has been included. You’ll also enjoy looking for the bricks of co-workers, relatives, neighbors, and friends. The vision of East End Aircraft L.I. Corporation, the not-for-profit group organizing this effort, is to some day add other Grumman products in a static display. Eventually, a history center and museum could complete the memorial park, with the Grumman Walk of Honor as the centerpiece.
